Hello there, last year I offered a rooster drop off to help prevent roosters from getting dumped on a dirt road. I created a bachelor pad of my own to help with grasshoppers around our garden. We had a substantial amount of roosters dropped off so quickly, I expanded last year we helped six other families create bachelor pads in the spring. By fall we had 24 families with Batchelor pads! Now over 30! This year I have more people that are willing/wanting to help as well. I'm offering a drop off spot for roosters to assure they find a hen house or batchelor pad.
Why a Batchelor pad?? Because when a group of roosters are together without any hens, the roosters do not fight with each other and they still have a purpose.... Exceptionally aggressive roosters may be subject to getting butchered if they attack one of our children... We much rather put roosters to work eating bugs though. All I require is a text message, letting me know you're dropping a rooster off into one of our kennels set up in my moms driveway, so I know to get them situated right away if I'm not there.
