2023 Grand Design Imagine XLS 22MLE - $28,900 (Bozeman)

- Lithium battery upgrade to 400 Ah. Very important because these modern RV's have 12V refrigerators that only run on electric (not propane) and the stock battery that comes with the trailer gets run down very quickly. This is critical unless you are on hookups all the time. It is almost unusable off-grid with the stock battery. Battery percentage, current draw, etc. viewable via the Victron Connect app.
- Pre-wired for inverter and other potential additions. As you’ll see from one of the pictures, the battery upgrade wiring was done with bigger things in mind. Top quality Victron components and heavy 4/0 wires from the batteries to the bus bar (Lynx Distributor) will support the higher current draw of an inverter. Plus, all of this is located in the same under-bed compartment where the “inverter-ready” wire loop is located by Grand Design (this is the small “box” in the corner between the batteries and the blue Lynx Distributor; see picture). Much of the work for adding an inverter is already done. Fused for safety.
- Magnetic baskets panel. The wall behind the dinette booth seat came with a mirror on it. We still have the mirror and it will be included (easily restored with four screws), but we replaced it with a black metal panel that we attached magnetic baskets to. This provides a wealth of convenient storage. Although the 22MLE model has good storage in general, this adds a place for easily-accessible “small stuff” and will be much more valuable than the mirror for most people. The baskets can all be re-arranged (or removed) as desired. See picture.
- Rear bumper hitch. We added a bolt-on rear bumper hitch for bike racks and such.
- Used for 2 years. We bought this in August of 2023 and stopped using it in August of 2025 when we bought a new fifth wheel to have more space. Other than one trip up to the Flathead area, this was just used on short trips near Bozeman.
- Covered in winter: This has been covered every winter we've had it and is well taken care of generally. The cover is included in the sale, though it's toward the end of its useful life (these covers do wear over time and this one has some holes).
- Kept on pavement. We did not take this on any bumpy dirt roads in the mountains that tends to rattle things loose. This was towed on paved roads, with the exception of campgrounds themselves, which are generally dirt/gravel.
The other specs are standard for a 22MLE: 165W solar panel, slide-out, queen bed (true size), both dinette table and reclining chairs, awning, external shower, tankless (on-demand) hot water heater. The table converts to an extra bed. The shoe cubby near the door is a major convenience and something we really miss with our new fifth wheel.
This will also come with a Blue Ox weight distribution hitch. When we upgraded our truck we got a new one more suitable for the new truck, so this one is extra. It performed very well - always a smooth towing experience.
We loved this trailer. If we hadn't bought a larger truck that allowed us to tow a fifth wheel, we would have been perfectly happy keeping this. One bonus that may not be readily apparent is that you can access the entire trailer while the slide is in. When you pull off the road, full access to the fridge, bathroom, etc.
