2021 KTM 690 Enduro R – Aurora Rally Xplorer Build
This bike started as a full, no-compromise rally build with the intent to sell new. After completing the build and putting it through real-world testing, I ended up keeping it and riding it—about 7,000 miles. That alone speaks to how well this setup works.
Purpose-built for BDR-style riding, it’s a true do-it-all lightweight ADV platform:
Comfortable for 600-mile pavement days to and from the route; Fully capable in technical terrain (think Lockhart Basin); Fast, stable, and fun on open gravel and high-speed dirt.
The foundation of the build is the Aurora Rally Xplorer kit paired with the 690 chassis. Aurora produces rally equipment used in some of the toughest professional races in the world—this is their top-tier kit and it transforms the bike.
I finished the build with a Carbon Fox low front fender and additional protective upgrades.
After extended "testing", I’ve gone through the bike and it’s fully serviced and ready to ride:
New tires (Motoz Tractionator)
New brake pads
Fresh fluids
Cleaned and sorted
