The selected candidate will assist with and lead multi-day horse pack trips into the backcountry of the Lee Metcalf Wilderness and Yellowstone National Park, as well as guide backcountry day rides for guests. This position requires strong horsemanship, backcountry experience, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist with and lead multi-day horse pack trips
• Guide day rides for guests
• Safely load, pack, and handle horses and mules
• Transport horses using a truck and a 6+ horse trailer
• Provide outstanding guest service and ensure a high-quality experience
Qualifications:
• Previous horse packing and backcountry experience required
• Advanced knowledge of and comfort working with all kinds of horses & mules
• Prior camp or outdoor guiding experience preferred
• Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to lift and load 90–110 lb packs onto horses/mules
• Valid driver’s license and experience hauling horse trailers
• Availability from mid-June through early September (peak availability required July–September 5)
Candidates local to the Bozeman/Big Sky/Ennis area are preferred. Housing available.
Compensation: Compensation is competitive and based on experience. Generous tips are also a significant part of total earnings.
