Our client, a private family office supporting a high-net-worth principal and complex residential properties, is seeking a Facilities Engineer to support day-to-day operations and maintenance of multiple high-end properties.
This role is hands-on and highly service-oriented, focused on maintaining mechanical systems, supporting property operations, and ensuring a seamless experience across residences in a demanding, high-touch environment.
Location: Big Sky, MT – Onsite
Duration: Direct Hire
Compensation: $80,000 - $110,000 annual base salary

Summary:
• Provide hands-on support for the maintenance and operation of high-end residential and support properties
• Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
• Partner closely with internal teams and vendors to ensure reliable, high-quality property operations
• Support a wide range of property needs, from technical systems to general upkeep and event readiness
• Operate in a dynamic, high-expectation environment requiring flexibility, discretion, and strong service mindset
Key Responsibilities:
• Execute preventative maintenance programs to minimize equipment failure and ensure operational reliability
• Support mechanical systems including HVAC, boilers, plumbing, gas distribution, and water systems
• Perform general maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of building systems and equipment
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors, including scheduling and oversight of service work
• Maintain and repair pools, spas, water features, and related systems
• Conduct routine inspections of buildings, equipment, and environmental conditions
• Perform general “handyperson” tasks including snow removal, basic carpentry, equipment setup, and property upkeep
• Support building automation systems and monitoring tools to ensure proper system performance
• Maintain inventory, order parts and materials, and ensure clean and organized workspaces
• Provide on-call support and respond to urgent maintenance needs as required
• Assist with property readiness for principal visits, including coordination with hospitality and technology teams
• Support additional operational needs including vehicle maintenance, equipment setup, and activity preparation
Qualifications:
• 3+ years of experience as a building or facilities engineer in a residential, commercial, or similarly complex environment
• Hands-on experience with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems
• Experience maintaining preventative maintenance programs
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair a wide range of building systems and equipment
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating with a broader team
• High level of discretion, professionalism, and service orientation
• Ability to work in demanding environments, including outdoor conditions and variable schedules
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally as needed
Nice to Have:
• Experience supporting high-end residential or private estate environments
• Experience with building automation systems and controls
• Trade certifications or licenses (HVAC, boiler, electrical, etc.)
• Experience working in remote or extreme weather environments
• Experience with maintenance tracking or work order systems
