Reporting to the Executive Sous Chef, the Baker II actively works in Miller’s bakery concept while ensuring optimal consistency, appeal, and quality of product.
~Skillfully prepares a wide variety of baked goods (predominantly pre-made but occasionally from scratch) while positively and professionally interacting with customers.
~Mixes all icing, puddings and toppings.
~Ices products (cakes, doughnuts, etc) and provides decorative garnishing of finished baked goods.
~Produces specialty items such as artisan bread, and tortilla and pizza dough.
~Operates and is knowledgeable about a wide variety of large scale and specialty bakery equipment.
~Assists with directing and training staff.
~Monitors inventory, stocks/rotates, keeps records, and orders accordingly.
~Analyzes and makes recommendations concerning potential mixing problems and new recipes.
~Properly follows sanitation guidelines and handles food in accordance with FDA food codes and as directed by MSU’s Registered ~Sanitarian. Ensures sanitation guidelines are being followed at their station.
~Regularly assists with the cleaning, disposition and storage of foods (hot and cold), supplies, and equipment in accordance with the sanitarian’s recommendations.
~May be asked to work in the MSU Bakery as needed.
